There is a drone called “Jazz”.
Our Olena Oleksiuk, one of the ambassadors who also weaves camouflage nets, raised funds for this drone.
Why “Jazz”?
“The family of the fallen soldier was very involved in this fundraiser, and I asked them to name it,” says Olena. – The drone “Jazz” will work in memory of Oleh Kliufas – a warrior, poet, philosopher, as well as in memory of all other artists who died in this bloody war at the hands of russians”.
Drone “Jazz” is on the frontlines now; it was delivered to the 109th Brigade of the TDF of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to victims.memorial, the poet and soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleh Kliufas, callsign name Jazz, died on June 13th, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the village of Rozdolivka in Donetsk region. He turned 43 on June 9th.
Oleh came from the village of Volostkiv, Lviv Region. He lived and created in Lviv. In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Ivan Franko Lviv National University. A philosopher, poet-innovator, translator, a creator of more than 300 unique palindromes, a member of the research group of the Ukrainian Cossack song “Miklouho-Maclay”, a chorister of the national men’s choir “Prometheus”.
He had a fantastic charisma, Skovoroda-type nature. He was a vivid symbol of bohemian and artistic life in Lviv. He wrote poetry since the late 1990s, and constantly experimented with forms and created new meanings. He wrote poems from neologisms under the name “neochopia”. Oleh is known as the creator and generator of unique palindromes #cancer_literal. He was also a co-creator of the new literary genre “poetic bug”. He translated world classics and contemporary songs from English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Georgian, French, Lithuanian, Polish, Czech, Bulgarian, Hungarian and other languages.
From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he diligently and responsibly performed the duties of a senior mortar gunner as part of the “Sykhiv” battalion. While at war, Oleh continued to popularize Ukrainian culture by translating popular folk and modern Ukrainian songs into English. He constantly created, literally while in the dugouts, he simultaneously worked on his writings and translations.
“A uniquely talented soul with constantly flowing brilliant ideas. A soul I was lucky enough to know and embrace. A like-minded person. A discoverer. A researcher and lexicographer. A freelancer. A Heart. A Man. A Hero… It was always fascinating to see how you play with and love words and experiment with forms, how you go beyond the limits and create new worlds, how you fill them with meaning and nonsense, how you fill them from the inside! All your wonderful translations must be sung, and all your poetry and prose, which we had spoken more than once, must be published! And it will be. I promise”, wrote Daryna Pazenko, a friend of the deceased.
“There are people who are an organic part of Lviv, who create the spirit of the city. These people seem to be always here, always nearby. You know that they are nearby and you are at ease. Oleh Kliufas, I can’t imagine Lviv without you, stay by my side forever, forever a part of metaphysical Lviv,” Jacques Jabier wrote.
“Fly with ease, dear Oleh. You were a kind and joyful person. Now it is important to make sure we don’t lose your kindness and joy”, added Yurko Vovkohon.
Oleh was buried in the city of Mostyska in the Lviv region.
The defender is survived by his parents, brothers and two sons.
