There is a proverb that says, “In times of war the muses are silent”. That is, the muses are silent when the cannons roar.
But is it so?
Our friends, partners and patrons from MuzCool, an alternative music school, prove that it is not so!
First, they continue their work. And also, almost every Sunday they hold charity events in support of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“We live in an absolutely normal rhythm for every Ukrainian: we work, sometimes we rest, but usually we are in a good shape and we do everything we can to support our country, our soldiers. Because thanks to them, we have the opportunity to live and work, – says Viktoria. – It’s all very, very interconnected. Every conscious person feels in their heart that they are obliged to do this. And they do.
We hold our charity concerts every Sunday, where our students show their skills and everything they have learned during lessons. The share about their experiences in daily life, express their emotions and share about the emotions of the people around them. We perform, enjoy the sun and life, and collect donations to help the Defense Forces of Ukraine together – through the “April” fund, which we trust. We transfer all funds to drones.”
MuzCool has three locations: 13 Kotliarevskyi Street, 50 Khimichna Street and 71 Chervona Kalyna Avenue (in Syhiv). “And it is precisely in Syhiv, in a small and cozy concert hall, we gather all the people who are involved in our community. And we will be happy if there are more such people. All information is available on our pages on social – Facebook and Instagram. We cover everything there. The charity concerts are held every week, or every two weeks, on Sundays at 11am,” Viktoria adds.
“We are happy that we can be helpful to our Defense Forces. We are grateful for being able to work and support the culture and education of our modern children, our youth. It is very important, especially today, to maintain that fire, to raise a good, conscious Ukrainian. It is like a mission for us. And we make every effort not just to play music, but to educate with music.
Music is a special part in education, with music you can cause any feelings. You can explain a lot at any age. That’s why we try to approach our work with the highest quality, with the most soul, as consciously as possible, and in this way to educate our youth and support our culture. Therefore, let the musicians say it, let the artists say it, but we also have a lot of power in our hands and we can support everyone who is currently fighting for our independence and our freedom. No matter what one’s profession is, it is very important to feel needed by your country. And especially now – at this time, in this place, at this moment.”
MuzCool supports the format of friendship and partnership. “Sometimes a teacher-student relationship is a bit about distance. But we like learning from each other and highlighting each other’s strengths. That is why we are a community. And from the age of three to unlimited, we are waiting for everyone in our walls, who hear music in themselves and who want to learn and do cool things with us, which is so necessary today.”
